President’s Message

I had so much fun getting into costume and meeting old friends and new at this year’s Old
Fashioned Sunday! The rain held off and everyone had a wonderful time. Special thanks to the Latham Kiwanis and Beth and Dave Vail who have been with us since the very beginning selling hamburgers, hot dogs and soda. We are already making plans for September 8, 2024, which will be the 40th anniversary of Old Fashioned Sunday at the Pruyn House.

As you will see inside, we have had a very busy year making property upgrades. As many of you know, managing an old house includes many projects and we are pleased with the work that’s been done this year. As the old saying goes, “there’s always room for improvement,” and we have a project list for 2024.

Our to-do list includes re-imagining some of the programming that the Friends of Pruyn House offers each year. The Friends of Pruyn House Board of Directors is reviewing the way the property is

currently being used and will look for programming that will increase community involvement for members and local families. We’re still exploring ideas and will keep you posted through the newsletter.

The Members’ Holiday Brunch will be held on Sunday,
December 3 from 10 am to 1:00 pm. The House will be in all its holiday finery, so please join us. Invitations will be mailed soon.Details are on the back of this newsletter. I hope to see you there!
