Dear Friend and Member,

Over the past twenty-six years, you may have been entertained by our summer Concerts in the Barn, visited us on Old Fashioned Sunday, stopped by our Holiday Open House, attended our Annual Members’ Holiday Party, listened to one of our Historic Lectures or enjoyed one of our many field trips. Possibly your children or grandchildren have participated in our Annual Children’s Holiday Party or attended one of the numerous educational programs we offer to students throughout the year. If so, you would be among the thousands of residents from Colonie and surrounding communities who have enjoyed and utilized this beautiful historic complex.

The Friends of Pruyn House is a not-for-profit organization that manages the Pruyn House Complex. The Friends plan and pay for programming, special events, improvements and furnishings for the entire site. For the first time, we are launching an Annual Appeal to our members, and we are asking for your much-needed support.

Recently we completed costly and extensive repairs and renovations to the Pruyn House. The front entrance was remodeled and is now handicapped accessible, the main interior hallway stairs underwent extensive reconstruction and the hallways were wallpapered and painted. Presently we are focusing on refurbishing the kitchen and pantry areas as well as re-plastering and painting the dining room walls. Our Verdoy School House and Buhrmaster Barn are in need of repair. These improvements are necessary in order to keep the house and complex operational and to continue its function as a community and cultural center.

As a friend and member of the Pruyn House, we are asking you for a donation to our Annual Appeal. Your donation will help offset these costly repairs and allow us to continue to offer the activities, programs, and events that add so much to the enrichment and enjoyment of all our members.
